CHIC STAYS: The Santa Monica Proper
Kelly Wearstler is one of the most iconic interior designers of the decade - a woman who is not afraid to take risks and is famously known for mixing layers and layers of texture, colour and print to create mind blowing maximalist schemes.
Her latest project, the Santa Monica Proper Hotel does just that - blow your mind. Before Kelly's monolithic re-build, the hotel was a landmark in Spanish colonial revival style. The hotel's grand and earthy bones were the perfect base for playing with raw materials, organic texture, and calming palettes. Kelly's team worked with American artists and artisans to bring a truely authentic and localised experience to each space. As a guest, the experience is truely immersive and sensory.
The Palma Lounge at the Santa Monica Proper. We recommend ordering the "Goddess Bowl" with greek yogurt, hemp granola, grilled stone fruit, burnt sumac honey.
Take a private tour to the Sheats/Goldstein residence, you can find various architecture tours online.
Stroll through Melrose Place, pop into vintage haunts: The Window and Sumner Store for epic one off pieces. Eat light, tasty vegan mexican at Gracias Madre on Melrose.
Take an uber back to the beach, stopping along the way at Tikkan Spa Santa Monica for their famous Korean reflexology and meditation in their myriad of healing rooms.
Enjoy dinner at Gjelina in Venice (don't skip their signature pizza) with drinks to follow at the Santa Monica Proper Calabra Rooftop.
